Um repositório dos mitos e das memórias de uma aldeia na costa do Atlântico. As histórias vão surgindo como se a tradição oral fosse a única narrativa que se mantém, trazendo ao presente tradições antigas e quase perdidas. “Um filme da terra que parece um sonho a despertar memórias inscritas no tempo. Uma voz conta-nos a experiência de uma procura na paisagem que se perscruta e se percorre, enquanto a câmara ‘caminha’ a rasar o solo. Um filme sensorial que desperta crenças antigas onde uma varinha (mágica) age sozinha… A acuidade sensorial eleva-se, o corpo vibra numa outra paisagem-corpo que se sente na película. The repository for the myths and memories of a village on the Atlantic coast. The stories appear as if the oral tradition were the only narrative that remains, bringing to the present ancient and almost lost traditions. “A film about the land that looks like a dream awakening memories inscribed in time. A voice tells us the experience of a search in the landscape that is surveyed and traversed, while the camera ‘walks’ across the ground. A sensory film that awakens old beliefs where a (magic) wand acts alone… Sensory acuity rises, the body vibrates in another landscape-body that is felt in the film. Comrades in Arms shows, in a very personal way, the experience of the young men who choose to leave being the life of a civilian to become part of the navy at the Escola de Fuzileiros/Marine School of the Portuguese Navy. We follow what really happens along these boys’ journey through the course that will lead them into becoming a marine.
