A Selecção Ensaios é dedicada a filmes produzidos em contexto académico ou de formação técnica e profissional (Escolas de Cinema, Audiovisual e Multimédia do Ensino Secundário e Superior) e pretende conferir um espaço a todos os realizadores, que em Portugal e a nível Internacional, almejam ser os criadores de amanhã.

Quem me dera em vez de uma câmara ter uma mosca é uma viagem da realizadora com a sua câmara pela cidade. É um filme sobre cinema e as pessoas que nele existem, fechadas. É como uma caixa onde a realizadora guarda os objetos da sua vida, da sua história e da sua ansiedade, quase sem a abrir, um filme por fazer, rodeado de medo. Lá está a sua família deitada num jardim de pregos, o útero, a cidade onde a qualquer momento, por casualidade, se pode encontrar um monstro.
I wish instead of a camera I had a fly is a trip of the director with her camera through the city. It’s a movie about cinema and the people that are in it, trapped. It’s like a box where the director keeps the objects of her life, her story and her anxiety, almost without opening it, a movie to be made, surrounded by fear. Based on actual events, this film tells the story of 15-year-old Oskar who newly visits a multi-cultural high school. More and more, he is excluded, bullied and even physically attacked by some of his classmates. Eren, too, has to give in to the peer pressure and is forced to betray his friend. Ashamed, Oskar keeps the attacks secret at home. When his parents finally learn about the bullying, they try to talk to the school's headmaster — however, their pleas are ignored and their worries dismissed. Thus, Oskar is faced with the question: Is he going to further endure the humiliations — or can he find a way to hold his own and to stand by his identity?

Filha de imigrantes portugueses no Luxemburgo, a diretora aborda o passado dos pais através de velhas cassetes, com filmagens caseiras feitas pelos pais do distante país desconhecido que acabavam por ser mandadas para os familiares em Portugal. Ao longo do filme, descobrimos o passado do pai e da mãe, as dificuldades no novo país, assim como as dificuldades da realizadora de se acostumar a um país onde não nasceu nem cresceu, sem os seus pais.
A journey throughout trips. A tribute to the parents. A self-portrait. As a child of Portuguese immigrants in Luxembourg, the director explores her parents' past through videotapes, which they used to record their new surroundings and doings in that distant country, and which they would later on send back home to Portugal. As the film progresses, we discover her father's and mother's pasts, their struggles in their new soon-to-be home, as well as the director’s new struggles to adjust in a country where she wasn't born nor raised, without her parents.

Aurora is a young artist from a small village in the North of Portugal. From early ages she was in love with fashion and dance. Today she lives in Lisbon, where she follows her dream to be successful in performance art. Between rehearsals and shows, she fights to break preconceptions through her creations. João Ribas é sinónimo de Punk. Nome incontornável da música portuguesa e um dos principais impulsionadores do movimento punk. Figura carismática de Alvalade, bairro onde nasceu, mas a sua voz rapidamente galgou fronteiras e chegou a todos os cantos do país. Como músico esteve na origem de várias bandas importantes do punk nacional, como os Ku de Judas, os Censurados e os Tara Perdida. Também participou em vários projectos paralelos, como por exemplo os Kamones e os Osso Ruído. Influenciou várias gerações de jovens, músicos e um sem número de outras bandas. Mas sempre rejeitou qualquer ideia de ser um ícone da música, o que demonstra bem que a sua postura sempre foi genuína e a mesma em relação à música, viveu para ela, e mesmo sem o querer, o seu nome irá estar para sempre ligado à história da música portuguesa. “Um Punk chamado Ribas” conta com a participação de músicos, amigos, familiares e radialistas, fazendo um retrato do músico e prestando-lhe homenagem.

Com o desenvolvimento da tecnologia, hoje em dia todos nós temos acesso ilimitado a um conjunto de informações que as gerações passadas nunca tiveram. Não se trata propriamente de um privilégio, aliás, está bem longe disso. Querendo ou não, somos de certa forma “obrigados a consumi-las” mesmo sem nos apercebermos. Sejamos nós um adulto, um idoso, uma criança, ou um estudante universitário, como é o meu caso. Para isso, basta ter acesso à internet e um dispositivo. Se por um lado, é graças a este avanço tecnológico que chegamos onde estamos, com todos os benefícios que nos trouxe; por outro lado, o reverso da moeda pode, por vezes, ser bem catastrófico. Inúmeras são as consequências negativas e nocivas que este desenvolvimento tecnológico gerou. Neste filme, olha-se diretamente para a banalização da violência. RESUMO: No fundo, o meu vídeo retrata o conteúdo que vemos todos os dias de manhã à noite na televisão, Internet ou qualquer tipo de media. Pelo menos numa primeira parte. Numa segunda fase, retrata o que aconteceria se os mortos pudessem falar.
With the development of technology, nowadays we all have unlimited access to a set of information that past generations have never had. It is not really a privilege, it is far from it. Whether we want it or not, we are somehow "forced to consume it" even without realizing it. Let us be an adult, an old man, a child, or a college student, as is my case. For this, just have access to the internet and a device. If on the one hand, it is thanks to this technological advance that we arrive where we are, with all the benefits that has brought us; on the other hand, the reverse of the currency can sometimes be very catastrophic. There are countless negative and harmful consequences of this technological development. In this film, one looks directly towards the banalization of violence. My video portrays the content we see every day from morning to night on television, the Internet or any kind of media. At least in the first part. In a second phase, it portrays what would happen if the dead could speak.

In the near future, when all labor works are replaced by humanoids, a Chinese chef, Pu (60s) is ordered to pass on his cooking skill to a humanoid robot William and to teach him Chinese cooking. Designed to satisfy his owner, William tries to follow Pu’s every instruction, but his robotic demand for precision and perfection is essentially contradictory to Chinese cooking. At the same time, the protests against AI replacing the human labor are more and more intense. Qiang, Pu’s apprentice is also one of the protestors. Since Qiang disappoints Pu time and time again in cooking, Pu starts to get closer with William, which pushes him to the opposite of human beings. Pu becomes at a loss in this dilemma.
