Biografia – Realizador

David Pinheiro Vicente iniciou a sua carreira no cinema como diretor de arte e assistente de realização. Completou as duas curtas-metragens que compõem a sua filmografia, Onde o Verão Vai (2018) e O Cordeiro de Deus (2020), que foram aclamadas em alguns dos festivais de cinema mais prestigiados do mundo — competindo pelo Urso de Ouro em Berlim e pela Palma de Ouro em Cannes. O seu trabalho aborda questões do corpo e do espírito, propondo investigar as complexidades do crescimento físico e espiritual.

Biography – Director (English)

David Pinheiro Vicente began his film career as an art and assistant director. He completed the two short films comprising his filmography, Where the Summer Goes (2018) and The Lamb of God (2020), which have been acclaimed at some of the world’s most prestigious film festivals — competing for the Golden Bear in Berlin and the Palme d’Or in Cannes. His work addresses questions of the body and spirit, proposing to investigate the complexities of physical and spiritual growth.

Statement / Declaração

Quando estou numa reunião familiar, ocorre-me frequentemente que as conversas triviais e o riso delineiam uma superfície que, se olharmos com atenção, revela outras coisas, segredos e fantasias, crenças, formas de ver o mundo. Também me ocorre frequentemente que a ideia de viver fora da nossa família, fora de tudo o que aprendemos, tudo o que eles aprenderam e nos ensinaram, tudo o que outra pessoa aprendeu e lhes ensinou, e assim sucessivamente, é uma ideia muito nova. É uma ideia muito livre, mas a liberdade é perigosa. Este filme surgiu destes dois pensamentos.

Statement / Declaration (English)

When I’m at a family gathering, it often occurs to me that small talks and laughter outline a surface that, if you look closely, reveals other things, secrets and fantasies, beliefs, ways of seeing the world. It also often occurs to me that the idea of living outside our family, outside everything we’ve learned, everything they’ve learned and taught us, everything someone else has learned and taught them, and so on, is a very new idea. It’s a very free idea but freedom is dangerous. This film arose from these two thoughts
