Anu-Laura Tuttelberg licenciou-se na Academia de Artes da Estónia em 2013 com um mestrado em Animação, especializando-se em stop-motion. O seu filme de graduação Fly Mill ganhou 20 prémios globalmente. O seu primeiro filme pós-graduação, On The Other Side Of The Woods, teve estreia no Festival Internacional de Animação de Annecy e ganhou 12 prémios em 85 festivais. Winter in the Rainforest, o primeiro da sua trilogia sobre a natureza, estreou em Annecy em 2019, ganhando 13 prémios de festivais e o Prémio da Dotação Cultural Estoniana. Anu-Laura, conhecida pelos seus cenários em filmes de stop-motion, ganhou o Prémio de Cinema e TV da Estónia 2022 para Melhor Design de Produção. Ensina animação na sua alma mater.

Anu-Laura Tuttelberg graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2013 with an MA in Animation, specializing in stop-motion. Her graduation film Fly Mill won 20 prizes globally. Her first post-graduation film, On The Other Side Of The Woods, premiered at the Annecy International Animation Festival and won 12 awards across 85 festivals. Winter in the Rainforest, the first in her nature trilogy, premiered at Annecy in 2019, winning 13 festival prizes and the Estonian Cultural Endowment Award. Anu-Laura, known for her set designs in stop-motion films, won the 2022 Estonian Film and TV Award for Best Production Design. She teaches animation at her alma mater

On Weary Wings Go By é um filme de animação stop-motion filmado na natureza com bonecos de porcelana como personagens. O filme expressa a chegada do inverno na natureza nórdica. O sol move-se baixo acima do horizonte, os dias tornam-se cada vez mais curtos. Linnud läinud… é o início de um provérbio na Estónia que descreve os pássaros a partir e a dar lugar à chegada do inverno. O filme foi rodado ao longo de 3 invernos nas costas norte da Estónia e da Noruega. Os bonecos de porcelana foram animados ao ar livre na natureza. Enquanto eu animava uma cena de cada vez do nascer ao pôr do sol, esses 3 invernos estão concentrados na curta-metragem de 10 minutos para mostrar uma estação na vida das criaturas de porcelana. Ao animar bonecos na natureza, as condições de luz mudam constantemente em segundo plano. A animação suave dos bonecos versus a natureza em mudança frenética à sua volta cria uma presença peculiar do tempo a passar rapidamente e realça a essência e o charme da técnica stop-motion.

On Weary Wings Go By is a stop-motion film shot in nature with porcelain puppets as characters. The film expresses the arrival of winter in the Nordic nature. The sun moves low above the horizon, the days get shorter and shorter. Linnud läinud… is the beginning of a proverb in Estonia that describes the birds leaving and giving way for the winter to come. The film was shot throughout 3 winters on the North coasts of Estonia and Norway. The porcelain puppets were animated outdoors in nature. While I was animating one shot at a time from sunrise to sunset those 3 winters are concentrated into the 10-minute short film to show one season in the life of the porcelain creatures. While animating puppets in nature the light conditions change constantly in the background. The smooth animation of the puppets versus the hectic changing nature around them creates a peculiar presence of time passing by rapidly and brings out the essence and charm of the stop-motion technique The film is shot with an old 16 mm Bolex camera. The 16 mm film gives a special feeling of materiality and texture to the film. It is the second film in a composition of three films depicting different seasons. The first film Winter In The Rainforest (2019) shot in the Mexican jungle was about the summer season, On Weary Wings Go By is about autumn and winter, and finally, the third film will be about spring.
