Sinopse
Em algum momento nos anos 90, com o bug do milénio a anunciar o fim dos tempos, uma família profundamente religiosa acredita que a sua membro mais jovem carrega no seu ventre a semente que culminará com a segunda vinda de Jesus Cristo.

Somewhere in the 90s, with the millennium bug announcing the end of times, a deeply religious family believes that its youngest member carries in her womb the seed that will culminate with the second coming of Jesus Christ.

“Se, de uma perspetiva mais racional, Estéril me trouxe a afirmação perturbadora de que o fim da humanidade é, de facto, o melhor presente que poderíamos oferecer ao mundo, também desenterrou crenças profundas dentro de mim que estão intrinsecamente ligadas à forma como fui criado, colocando novamente em xeque o poder da fé e da redenção contra um processo muito lento de extinção. Seriam os humanos capazes de enfrentar as suas próprias vidas num mundo sem Deus?”

“If, from a more rational perspective, Sterile brought me the unsettling affirmation that the end of humanity is, in fact, the best gift we could possibly offer to the world, it also unearthed profound beliefs within me that are intrinsically connected to the way I was raised, putting back in check the power of faith and redemption against a very slow process of extinction. Would humans be able to face their own lives in a world without God?”.
