Biografia do Realizador Director BiographyLEONARDO MOURAMATEUS (Fortaleza, 1991) is director and dramaturg. Master in Multimedia Art by the University of Lisbon, he graduated in Cinema and Audiovisual at the Federal University of Ceará, maintaining permanent contact with the performing arts and dance dramaturgy. He wrote and directed films shown and awarded at several brazilian and international festivals. With “Mauro em Caiena” (2012) he won the award for best short film at the 35th Cinéma du Reél, in Paris and at the 11th Doclisboa, in addition to 12 other awards. “Lição de Esqui” (2013), co-directed with Samuel Brasileiro, won the awards for best script and best short film at the 46th Festival de Brasília, and an honorable mention at the Festival do Rio. In 2013 Leonardo was invited to install three of his short films at the 1st FotoBienalMasp, at the São Paulo Museum of Art. His documentary “A Festa e os Cães” was premiered worldwide in March 2015 at the 37th Cinéma du Réel – winning the French festival for the second time – and in Brazil in the It’s All True Festival competition, in addition to 10 other awards, such as at the 56th Festival dei Popoli, in Florence. “História de um pena” (2015) had its premiere at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival, and won the Special Jury Prize at the Brasília Festival of the same year. In 2017, the short film “Vando Vulgo Vedita”, co-directed with Andréia Pires, won the main prize of Mostra Foco at the Mostra de Tiradentes and was later presented at Viennale. “António Um Dois Três” (2017), his first feature film, and Portuguese-Brazilian production, had its world premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival, in the Bright Future session. The feature accumulated exhibitions at important festivals, such as BAFICI (Buenos Aires), Indielisboa, CPH PIX (Copenhagen), and Festival de Brasília, and had its commercial premiere in Austria, Brazil and Portugal. His short film “A chuva acalanta a dor” (2020) was premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival, at the Ammodo Tiger Short Competition. His film collection was exhibited at Galeria Sem Título Arte, in Fortaleza. This first solo exhibition, “Embaralhando a Planos” (2017), was curated by Beatriz Furtado, Janaina de Paula and Victor Costa Lopes. Retrospectives of his filmography were presented in Portugal (Festival de Santa Maria da Feira), France (Cinemateca Francesa and Cinemateca de Grenoble), Colombia (Eureka Festival), and more recently at the Rotterdam Festival, in the session Deep Focus Short Profile. In the performing arts, he created with Daniel Pizamiglio and Andréia Pires, Cavalos (2010). He proposed the À Queima-Roupa Project (2010) at the Bienal de Dança de Fortaleza. Since 2010 he has collaborated with the Teatro Máquina Group in different projects such as Ivanov (2011) and Sete Estrelas num Grande Carro (2015). Since 2018 he has collaborated as dramaturg with João Fiadeiro: From Afar It Was an Island (2018); De perto uma pedra (2018-2019); Ça Va Exploser (2020), this co-directed with Carolina Campos. In 2019 he worked as director of the audiovisual play, playwright assistant and dramaturg in the creations of Alexandre Pieroni Calado (A Parede), Filipa Matta (Bioluminescência) and Luara Luarth Moreira (Raio Raio Lama Lama), respectively.
