In Manila, Philippines, old cinemas have long been known as a queer space, where private affairs meld with the public. But with the burgeoning trend of smartphones and dating apps, these cinemas have become empty. Where have all the queers gone?
By gathering actual sexual intimations from gay men and juxtaposing them with listless, solitary men roaming around an old cinema that is in the clutches of handheld technology, the film evokes a sense of erotic nostalgia and reveals a more personal part of people’s lives — a part that is ruminating on the impending demise of an old hideaway while gradually crossing over to a new one.
