We all put guards up to protect ourselves from getting hurt by others. This is a story about two guarded individuals who wear literal layers of protection, in the form of a shark and a dinosaur costume. We first meet Shark, a sign spinner working the corner of a West Los Angeles street. She’s been beaten down by life and is having a rough go at it when she decides to quit her sign spinning job and walk home. On the way, she comes across Dinosaur – a shy sign spinner who has been dealing with his own issues and uses the persona of an apex predator to compensate for the powerlessness that he feels in life. As Shark and Dinosaur get to know each other over the course of a walk to the park, they make a connection that allows them to slowly let their guard down and be vulnerable – something that scares them both very much. And when their guard goes down and their costumes come off, will they like what they see?

Every now and then you come across a story that hooks you and doesn’t let go. This is how I felt after reading Jameel’s script for Signs. The story of two misunderstood people in a cruel world who find each other, fall in love, and allow each other to be seen. Once I read it, I knew I had to be involved. In a time where our world is so divided, I felt that we could all use a story of love and innocence. It was so fun to take a character that you’d never think twice about and take a close look at the beauty underneath. This project was a healing one for me, and it was an incredible honor to work with Jameel Saleem and Danette Wilson, two extraordinary people and gifted artists.

Biografia do Realizador Director Biography
Jason Satterlund is a film director and screenwriter that began his career in music videos, working with artists such as Bon Jovi, Jack White, Loretta Lynn, and Kid Rock. He worked in commercials with a wide variety of clients, including Microsoft, Amazon, Warner Brothers and Hallmark Entertainment. He transitioned to directing feature films with The Human Trace, which took home the top prize at the Cedar Rapids Film Festival. In 2014, his film The Record Keeper premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in the UK, and went on to garner many awards on its world wide tour. He recently directed the Star Wars short film, Kenobi, one of the biggest fan films ever made, starring Jamie Costa and James Arnold Taylor. His latest film, The Suppression, is due out in 2020.
