Synopsis “Bela America” is a social dramedy about Lucas, a talented cook who falls in love with America, a television star and presidential candidate, deciding to conquer her with his culinary talent. Despite his humble origins and the harsh reality of still living with his blind mother inside a shack in one of the city’s most run-down neighborhoods, Lucas decides to enter the exuberant celebrity world, crossing the line that sharply separates those two worlds. Lucas enters clandestinely America’s home while she’s out running for president and cooks for her the most unprecedented dishes. Without revealing himself, Lucas observes America returning home at the end of the day and finding a majestic dinner waiting for her on the kitchen table. In a dark and suspense environment, punctuated with irony and unusual situations, “Bella America” explores the themes of social inequality, the rise of populism and family relationships.
