Born in 1983 in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, is a filmmaker and screenwriter. He has directed six short films, all of them awarded in Brazil and abroad in festivals such as Festival do Rio, Brasilia, Havana, Toulouse, Paris ans others. In July 2016, he debuted his HBO series “HQ – Special Edition”, on which he directed and wrote the scripts for all ten 60-minutes episodes. The series was the independent content with more screenings during 2016 and 2017 at HBO Brasil and a initial contact to a second season is on the go. It is not everyday that one wants to admire a tasty Van Gogh, watch a spicy Truffaut, nor listen to a crunchy Bach. But everyday one needs to eat. Hunger is the only recurring desire. Connected to the act of eating, gastronomy is the only of all arts that demands that an observed object has to be destroyed in order to be fully appreciated. And what about life? How life can be fully appreciated? Maybe knowing the end can be a beginning. Culinary is the metaphor that serves as starting point for “The Club of Angels” to talk about the place in the men in the current world. Using irony as a weapon, the film tells the story of seven men and how they decided to get a grip of life from a different perspective. Seven precarious men who see themselves on the end of the line and still try to make it their occasion. In a country that not all people eat everyday, who can be the ones taking for granted the possibility of indulge a constant desire? Showing men being men is also a way of disempower them – myself included.
