Sinopse Original Original Sinopsis

Sinopse Internacional Sinopsis

A woman is confined to her home. She is unemployed, as if exiled from the opportunities of her time. Closed inside herself. She goes through cycles of precarity, ever closer. Days weighing heavily on the tired body, the dwelling of all struggles. Liberating memory: Reaching into time, the future is possible. She dances. With every turn, a chorus. She is repossessing her being-in-the world. She will dress her body like a glove.

Mensagem do Realizador Director Statement
A woman is confined to her home. Deadening time, tired body, standing still. Through small movements we enter a timeless space, empty of possibilities, full of absences. This is a film about our time. We know the statistical data, the testimonies, the stories but not the names of those who were the sources. As soon as precariousness spreads and gradually turns into a permanent state, these same stories begin to invade the personal sphere and cease to be anonymous. There is a strangeness that sets in, as if it repeated what should have been already resolved, as if we were going backwards. There is also a difference, this time we know, we have words, new and old: enclosure, historical time, precariousness, body, intimacy, name, subject. The gestures are being repeated, with small variations. They become ritualized in a time that accelerates but does not unveil itself. Now was not supposed to be like this. The woman remembers. We have access to a sweet and diffuse remembrance that is being woven into the rhythm of the days. We really want to see and understand what it tells us, but, as what is partially hidden behind a veil waving in the wind, memory has its ways of hiding, or, better, of showing itself just enough to leave us trapped in a continuous translation. It is said: Nothing lasts forever. She, recreates a before and an after. Through a connection to herself and her past, she can access the ritournelle, the chorus, the time-travelling messenger and therefore experience the real. Little by little, step by step, new variations emerge. As she repeats the chorus, she moves away, becomes absent and returns. She returns with the others, creates space, rehearses new motions of resistance. This is a film that pays tribute to the women of the generations before us, who offered us their care and a time of their own. Then it meant a novel, newly conquered time. They are the women who worked in the fields, the weavers, the seamstresses, the maids. They also remember. And they tell and they sing, they warn, they send messages through time, word games, charades, that for them could only be understood in a distant future, or, for us, at the exact moment when we need their wisdom. And if time ebbs, then it also flows. If it warns, it also promises. Anyway she will desire and she will build and thus she will be. And everything will change. The future is finally possible.
