Perante um mundo de caos e inconstância, o cinema oferece enriquecimento, alimentando as almas dos mais criativos e curiosos – dos que encontram o seu lugar de pertença na sétima arte. No entanto, esta arte depende de agentes que a mantenham viva, algo que festivais como o Caminhos do Cinema Português tomam como missão e compromisso, honrando a relação entre os espectadores, os filmes e os seus criadores. Aproximar o cinema da comunidade e demonstrar a multiplicidade de formas que este pode tomar são objetivos ambiciosos, mas que através deste festival se concretizam, pouco a pouco. A FIPRESCI nasceu, em parte, deste diálogo e é também por isso que louva os esforços do festival Caminhos, que nos leva numa viagem por Portugal a partir do seu cinema nacional, em nome da paixão pela imagem em movimento e pela sua partilha.

In the face of a chaotic and unstable world, cinema offers enrichment, nourishing the souls of the most creative and curious individuals – those who find their place of belonging in the seventh art. However, this artform is dependent on agents that keep it alive, something which festivals such as Caminhos do Cinema Português see as a mission and a commitment, honoring the relationship between the audience members, the films and their creators. Closing the gap between cinema and the community, as well as demonstrating the plurality of forms it can take, are ambitious objectives which this festival accomplishes, little by little. FIPRESCI was, in part, born from this dialogue and that is also why it commends Caminhos festival’s efforts, which take us on a journey through Portugal by means of its national cinema, in the name of the passion for moving images and the act of experiencing them collectively.
